11/13/2022 0 Comments Groupspro 3I’ve noticed this also on both my units, and it appears to be a bug. Secondly, there is the misreported cell count (the rightmost number in screenshot). If you power the D6 via an external DC source, the figure will show the external voltage. I get a similar figure when powering the unit from the mains supply. There are couple of things going on here.įirst I’m guessing that the 29.2 V that you quote is the leftmost number in the display (see screenshot below). Is there a way to change the incorrect cell detection? The cell count option is set to automatic with no way to change it that I can find. And doesn't want to cut off charging until 29.2V (Unless I am reading that wrong). The charger detects the pack as having 20 cells. Go figure.Īnyway, Hota support have forwarded my issue to the manufacturer. The new breed of chargers are far more capable, but they’re built down to a price, and it’s not even clear who actually makes them, as the brand is not necessarily the manufacturer.Īnd don’t mention version control of the firmware… my D6 comes with 1.0.40 but the most recent version on the Hota website is 1.0.38. #GROUPSPRO 3 MANUAL#There was a time that chargers were well engineered, high quality units like my Robbe Infinity which is still going strong after 15 years - these came with a thick manual and if anything went wrong, chances are you could get it repaired. Seems to me that there’s a potential safety issue here, at the very least two damaged packs. Hopefully I'm not the pioneer here with significant bugs to squash. Hopefully it will be here by EOW and I'll be able to see what I've gotten myself into. #GROUPSPRO 3 UPGRADE#I just bought the recently released upgrade to the D6 called the S6. I'm hoping I didn't sign up for more than I bargained for. Hope this easy fix helps someone having the same issue. There are similar models from CUI or other brands with the same 4"x2" form factor but this one was in stock.Īfter removing the old module, desoldering the connectors on the new one and and soldering the AC and DC wires the charger works again. I found the VOF-225C-24 from CUI to be a drop-in replacement with the same dimensions and hole positions: Not wanting to investigate further I looked for a substitute module instead. I did some quick checks of fuses, diodes and FETs etc. I opened up the unit following directions on Youtube for the similar Hobbymate D6 DUO and found the AC/DC converter to be a separate module. #GROUPSPRO 3 PRO#Send prepared emails manually with the Mail app. After about 6 months of use my HOTA D6 Pro began shutting down halfway through a charge, first sometimes, then more and more frequently until it finally didn't turn on any more.Īs the DC input still worked without any problem, I suspected that only the AC/DC converter was defective.
